Detail Calculations
The Detail Calc. Production Std. Cost feature in COSMO Process Manufacturing runs the standard Business Central Calc. Production Std. Cost function to calculate the item's standard cost, logs all calculated or used values, and shows the results as preview in the Detail Calculation page without updating the item automatically. The current unit cost of the item is also displayed so that it can be compared with the calculated unit cost. This preview allows you to view what unit costs for components or resources are used for the calculation, before any changes are made.
In this page, you can accept the unit cost (or the unit cost and quantity) which again runs the Business Central standard function to calculate the item's standard cost and updates the item.
The Detail Calc. Production Std. Cost action can be used in the Items list and Item Card as well as in production structures, manufacturing structures, and for production variants of both types. However, updates to the standard cost (or the unit cost and quantity) are only possible on items.
Calculation on Items
The Detail Calc. Production Std. Cost action can only be used with item's that have Replenishment System = Prod. Order. This action is accessible from the:
- Item Card by choosing Bill of Materials > Production > Detail Calc. Production Std. Cost on the Related menu.
- Items list by choosing Assembly/Production > Production > Detail Calc. Production Std. Cost on the Related menu.
The General FastTab includes item information, such as the standard cost, unit cost, and lot size. The Lines FastTab displays the material and capacity costs that result from the production BOM and the routing.
If a line item has a BOM or routing, choose the amount in the Unit Cost field to open its detail calculation.
The Quantity field in the header can be modified to steer for which quantity the unit cost in the Amount (Quantity) field should be calculated. This has a special effect if there are setup times in the calculation.
To transfer the calculated unit cost to the item, the following functions are available:
- Accept Unit Cost – Runs the standard Business Central function (Calc. Production Std. Cost) to calculate the item's standard cost and updates the Standard Cost field on the Item Card.
- Accept Unit Cost and Quantity – Copies the Quantity field to the Lot Size field on the Item Card and runs the standard Business Central function (Calc. Production Std. Cost) to calculate the item's standard cost and updates the Standard Cost field on the Item Card.
Calculation on Production Structures/Variants
An item can have more than one production structure. Due to changes in the materials, work centers and times, different unit costs are calculated.
The Detail Calc. Production Std. Cost action can be run for certified production structures, manufacturing structures, and for production variants of both types.
When run from production structures, the Detail Calc. Production Std. Cost action uses the production BOM and the routing of the production structure, not the one from the related item, which might have a different production BOM or routing. Therefore, the calculated values cannot be accepted and transferred to the item.
The Lot Size of the production structure is used as the Quantity for the Detail Calc. Production Std. Cost if not zero. If the Lot Size is zero and the production structure is a production variant, the Maximum Lot Size is used as the Quantity. If the Maximum Lot Size is zero, the Minimum Lot Size is used.
