Create Service Orders
A service order can be created for a machine, machine component or supplementary part when one of the assigned service intervals is reached. For example, if the first service interval is defined as six months or 4800 hours, a Service Order is required if one of these intervals is reached.
To create the Service Order, choose the Create Service Orders action on the Home menu of the Machine Card, Machine Component Card, or Supplementary Part Card. If none of the service intervals have been reached, an error message will open and no service order will be created.
When a Service Order is created, the:
- assigned Service Item Worksheet and Service Lines are populated with the resources/material defined in the Standard Service Code related to the Service Interval.
- followings fields in the Machine Card, Machine Component Card, or Supplementary Part Card are updated in preparation for the next service:
- Last Counter Value
- Next Counter Value
- Next Service Date
- Next Service Interval Order
Notă
Standard service functionality in Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central must be set up prior to using service orders.
Example
Using the examples from the Service Intervals, the fields in the Rental FastTab of the Machine Card, Machine Component Card, or Supplementary Part Card are updated based on the previous service and next service intervals.
Field | Value | Comment |
---|---|---|
Last Counter Value | 4800 | Value from the last service interval. |
Next Counter Value | 10000 | Next service is required once this number of hours has been met. |
Next Service Date | November 1, 2024 | Next service is required one year from date of last service. |
Next Service Interval Order | 2 | Number of the next Service Interval Order. |
With these settings, the next service for this machine, machine component, or supplementary part is required one year after the initial service or when it has been used for 10000 hours – whichever comes first.
Service Orders in Graphical Rental Disposition
To include service orders in the Graphical Rental Disposition page, the Expected Starting Date (Rental) or Starting Date field must be populated in the Service Order line. This date serves as the start date for the service order on the Graphical Rental Disposition. If no date is entered in the Expected Starting Date (Rental) field in the Service Order line, the date in the Starting Date field is used as the start date.
If the Expected Starting Date (Rental) and Starting Date fields are populated with different dates, the Expected Starting Date (Rental) will be used as the start date for the service order. However, the tooltip will show the Starting Date as the Start Date. If no Starting Date is defined, the tooltip will not show a Start Date.
The date in the Expected Finishing Date (Rental) field serves as the end date for the service order on the Graphical Rental Disposition. If no date is entered in the Expected Finishing Date (Rental) field in the Service Order line, the date in the Finishing Date field is used as the end date. If neither field has a date, the service order will extend indefinitely.
If the Expected Finishing Date (Rental) and Finishing Date fields are populated with different dates, the Expected Finishing Date (Rental) will be used as the end date for the service order. However, the tooltip will show the Finishing Date as the End Date. If no Finishing Date is defined, the tooltip will not show an End Date. If the Expected Finishing Date (Rental) and Finishing Date fields are empty but an Expected Finishing Date is defined in the Details FastTab, the tooltip will show that date as the End Date.
