Customer Groups in COSMO Process Manufacturing are used in two areas of COSMO Quality Management.
Lot-/Serial No. Status
In addition to setting filters on Customers and Countries in the Lot-/Serial No. Status page, it is possible to set filters on Customer Groups.
In the Customer Group Filter field, enter the Customer Group that the status relates to. The filter entered here is considered at the following places within the application:
- Planning - Inventory that was released for certain customer groups is only considered for the fulfillment of demand of orders by customers that belong to this customer group. For all other customers, this inventory is considered as not available in planning.
- Picking - Inventory that was released for certain customer groups is only used in the picking order if the respective sales order was created for a customer belonging to this customer group.
- Item Availability Check in the Sales Order - When item availability is checked in the Sales Order, only inventory where the deposited customer group filter at the status matches the customer group of the customer in the sales header is viewed as available. Inventory where the customer group filter of the status does not match the customer group of the customer in the sales header cannot be entered in the item tracking line.
Furthermore, the shipment posting is denied if the customer group filter of the status does not match the customer group of the customer in the sales header (such as if the status was altered after entering the item tracking line).
Customer Item Specifications
The From The Same Lot function in COSMO Quality Assurance prevents you from selecting different lots to complete a sales order if prohibited by a specific item/customer combination.
COSMO Process Manufacturing extends this function by including Customer Groups so that a customer group can be used in the combination. The addition of the Lot No. Trading Units still prohibits the sale of different lots; but the check is on the Lot No. Trading Unit field, not the Lot No. field in the Item Tracking Entries page.
In addition to the areas where it is accessible in COSMO Quality Assurance, the Customer Item Specifications page is accessible from the Navigate tab on the Customer Groups page.
In the Customer Item Specifications page, enter the combination of Customer Group with Item Category/Item, and select the From The Same Lot check box if lots for this combination should always be selected from the same lot number trading unit.
In the Item Tracking Lines page, an error opens when two different lots are entered for the customer group/item combination.
