Remaining Shelf Life
In relation to a customer or customer group, there might be delivery arrangements for the shelf life of a lot-tracked item. This guaranteed remaining shelf life is usually arranged between manufacturers and wholesalers. Remaining shelf life can be configured for items in COSMO Process Manufacturing to notify users when lots are assigned to sales or pick lines so that they can select lots with enough remaining shelf life to comply with the contract.
Note
Remaining shelf life is specifically designed for lot tracking; it does not support serial number tracking.
Setup
The remaining shelf life is defined on either the Customer Card or Item Card by choosing Sales > Remain. Shelf Life Setup on the Related menu. In the Remain. Shelf Life Setup page, customer and item filtering can be set in the header and then the lines contain the customer/item combination with the specified remaining shelf life.
Additionally, the item tracking assigned to the items needs to be configured to use expiration dates. In the Item Tracking Code page, select the relevant code, expand the Misc. FastTab, and then activate the expiration date usage as defined by your company.
Processing
When an item is added to a sales line, an initial check is done to determine if a remaining shelf life has been defined for the combination of customer and item/item category.
If a lot that doesn't have enough shelf life is assigned for either the sales or pick line, a warning message is shown because the calculated Warning Date (Expiration Date - Remaining Shelf Time) is less than the Planned Delivery Date.
Important
The warning message does not prevent the delivery to the customer.
Example
A remaining shelf life of 60 days has been defined for Item P-10503 when it is sold to customer 10000. This means that if a particular lot of item P-10503 is set to expire within 60 days of delivery to customer 10000, the warning message will open if this lot tracking information is entered for the sales or pick line.
