Block Variables/Attributes

To prevent the use of variables/attributes, you can select the Blocked checkbox on the relevant line in the Variable/Attribute Types page. If the variable/attribute is used as a variable in a formula or as an attribute for items, BOMs, or documents, a warning message will open to notify the user that it is in use and confirm the blockage. The user can choose to continue to block the variable/attribute or cancel the process.

Blocked variables/attributes are excluded from selection as a variable in formulas (via the Variables action in the Formula Editor) or an attribute (via the Attribute (DM) field) in items, BOMs, Checklist Templates, or document lines. Blocked variables/attributes will be checked when certifying a Master BOM or Checklist Template. The warning message will open to notify the user that a variable is blocked and should be removed/replaced, and allows the user to continue with certification or cancel the process.
