Search and Replace Dyn. User Functions
Dynamic user functions can be searched for and replaced in formula fields using the Attribute / Dyn. User Function Search & Replace feature, which is also used for finding/replacing attributes/variables.
The Attribute / Dyn. User Function Search & Replace function can be accessed:
- using the Tell Me feature by entering Attribute / Dyn. User Function Search & Replace.
- by choosing the Search & Replace action from the Dyn. User Function page.
Search for Dynamic User Functions
When opened from Tell Me, you will need to turn on the Dynamic User Function toggle, enter the dynamic user function to search for in the Search for Dynamic User Function field, and then choose the Find action. When opened from the Dyn. User Function page, the selected dynamic user function is automatically set and the Find action is automatically run.
View Found Records
The lines show the related tables and fields where the dynamic user function was found. You can open the records for a line by choosing the Show Related Records action or by choosing the value in the No. of Records field.
Replace Dynamic User Functions in Records
The Replace with Dynamic User Function field is automatically set with the same value as in the Search for Dynamic User Function field. However, the Replace action cannot be run until the Replace with Dynamic User Function field is set with a different dynamic user function.
Replacing dynamic user functions is done per record; you cannot select all lines and perform a mass replacement. Before the replacement is done, you can view the records that will be changed in the Attribute / Dyn. User Function Search Result page and choose to change all, some, or none of them:
- Manually select the Change checkbox on lines to be changed.
- Choose the Change All action to select the Change checkbox on all lines.
- Choose the Change None action to clear the Change checkbox on all lines.
- Choose the Toggle Change action to switch (select or clear) the current setting of the Change checkbox on all lines.
Variations of the dynamic user function will be searched and found. For example, the dynamic user function "CIRCLEAREA" will be found when searching for "CIRCLE" formulas. To ensure the correct dynamic user function is changed, an editable preview field is available to see the intended change and allows you to modify it as needed.
- Select the line with formulas where the dynamic user function needs to be changed.
- In the Replace with Dynamic User Function field, enter the new dynamic user function.
- Choose the Replace action.
- In the Attribute / Dyn. User Function Search Result page, the Text Current and Text Preview fields show the current formula and how it will be replaced.
- If the replacement is incorrect, you can:
- choose to keep the Change checkbox cleared so no replacement is made.
- change the dynamic user function back to the original in the Text Preview field and then select the Change checkbox.
- Select/clear the Change checkbox in the lines to be replaced either manually or using the Change All, Change None, or Toggle Change actions as described above.
- Choose the OK button to complete the replacement and then choose the Yes button to replace the selected records.
Note
If dynamic user functions are replaced in certified Checklist Templates and Master BOMs/Master BOM Versions, the Status field will be changed from Certified to Under Development. Additionally, the last status modified date/user and last date/user modified fields are updated with the change.
