    Graphical Project Planning Setup

    You specify the basic settings for the COSMO Graphical Project Planning and Graphical Resource Planning pages in the Project Planning FastTab of the Graphical Project Planning Setup page.

    To set up general Graphical Project Planning information

    1. Choose the Lightbulb that opens the Tell Me feature icon, enter Graphical Project Planning Setup, and then choose the related link.
    2. On the Graphical Project Planning Setup page, expand the Project Planning FastTab and fill in or update the fields as described in the following sections.

    Note

    To ensure that project data is shown when the Graphical Project Planning page is opened from the Project Card, a message will inform the user if the project information falls outside of the configuration parameters in the Graphical Project Planning Setup page. If the user chooses to update the data cache, then the settings in the Planning Horizon Start, Planning Horizon End, Show Planning Projects, Show Quote Projects, and Show Open Projects fields will be updated as needed to include the project.

    For example:

    • If the project dates are in April but the Planning Horizon Start/End dates are set to January–March, then the Planning Horizon End date will change to accommodate the April dates if the user chooses to update the data cache.
    • If the project has Status = Quote but the Show Quote Projects toggle is turned off, then it will be turned on if the user chooses to update the data cache.

    These fields will be updated as needed whenever the pages are opened from the Project Card. However, the message will not open (and settings will not change) if the project information falls within the current settings.

    Project Planning FastTab

    The fields in the Project Planning FastTab are described in the following table.

    The color settings in the Project Planning FastTab determine which colors are used in the Graphical Project Planning, Graphical Resource Planning, and Graphical Resource Planning by Team pages. Each is described in the following table.

    Field Description
    Show Planning Projects Determines if projects with Status = Planning are shown in the Graphical Project Planning page.
    Show Quote Projects Determines if projects with Status = Quote are shown in the Graphical Project Planning page.
    Show Open Projects Determines if projects with Status = Open are shown in the Graphical Project Planning page.
    Default Start Time / Default End Time Indicates the default start/end time to be used when there is no value specified in the Default Start Time and Default End Time fields in the Project Planning Setup page.
    Project Color Specifies the color of the main project line in the Graphical Project Planning page.
    Summary Project Line Color Specifies the color of summary project lines in the Graphical Project Planning page.
    Project Line Process Color Specifies the color of planning process project lines in the Graphical Project Planning, Graphical Resource Planning, and Graphical Resource Planning by Team pages.
    Assigned Project Line Process Color Specifies the color of planning process project lines that have been assigned to resources in the Graphical Resource Planning and Graphical Resource Planning by Team pages.
    Project Line Lead Time Color Specifies the color of the project line process with Lead Time as Process Channel in the Graphical Project Planning page.
    Highlight Color Specifies the color used to indicate the work date in the Graphical Project Planning, Graphical Resource Planning, and Graphical Resource Planning by Team pages.
    Group By Specifies if project lines are automatically grouped by a specific column when the Graphical Project Planning page is opened. The options are No., Caption (the Description column), Person Responsible, Process ID, and Process Outline No. This grouping can be changed in the Graphical Project Planning page by adding the columns and accessing the ascending/descending sorting arrows.

    If this field is empty, the page opens without grouping but the sorting arrows are available on these columns for use at any time.
    Project Schedule Color Specifies the color of the project schedule lines that are shown at the top of process lines to indicate when a resource is assigned in the Graphical Project Planning page.

    Project Planning Columns and Resource Planning Columns FastTabs

    The Project Planning Columns and Resource Planning Columns FastTabs include the columns and settings that can be shown by default in the Graphical Project Planning, Graphical Resource Planning, and Graphical Resource Planning by Team pages. The fields in these FastTab are described in the following table.

    Field Description
    Name Indicates the name of the column that can be shown.
    Position Indicates the default position of the column when the page is opened.
    Users can change the position of the column.
    Width Indicates the default width of the column when the page is opened.
    Users can adjust the width of the column.
    Visible Indicates whether the column is visible when the page is opened.
    Users can choose to show/hide these columns via the Displays menu to choose visible columns icon at the bottom of the page.

    Actions

    The actions on the Actions menu that are specific to COSMO Project Manufacturing are described in the following table.

    Action Description
    About Shows the current product version and copyright information.
    Rebuild Project Data Rebuilds the COSMO Project Manufacturing data for rendering if setup or authorization changes are made.
