Non-Inventory Items
Non-Inventory items can be used as configuration-only placeholders in sales lines, which allows you to use checklists and Master BOMs to generate the Document BOM from the sales line and access non-production/construction related functions. Calculated BOM lines can later be transferred to separate sales lines and delivered. When it is time to ship the sales order, the non-inventory item is excluded.
Set Up Item
- Create an item.
- In the General FastTab, set the Type field to Non-Inventory.
- In the Config. to Order FastTab, ensure that the Part Type field is set to Standard.
- On the Related menu, choose Item > Checklist and assign the Checklist Template.
- On the Related menu, choose Item > Master BOM > Master BOM and assign the Master BOM.
Create Sales Document and Generate Document BOM
- Create a Sales Quote/Order.
- Assign the non-inventory item to the sales line.
- If not set to open automatically, choose Line > Checklist in the Lines FastTab to open the checklist and update as needed.
- On the Lines FastTab, choose Line > Document BOM > Document BOM to generate the Document BOM.
- Make changes as needed.
Except for production- and construction-related processes, you can access all sales/document BOM processes from the sales/document BOM line. For more information, see Sales.
Transfer Document BOM Lines to Sales Line
- On the line(s) to transfer, select the Transfer to Sales Document checkbox.
- On the Actions menu, choose the Transfer Lines to Sales Document action.
- Choose the Yes button to transfer the lines or the No button to cancel the transfer process.
- Close the transfer confirmation message.
- Close the Document BOM and review/adjust the transferred sales lines as needed.
Note
The source Document BOM lines are deleted after transferring to the sales lines.
