Production Structures
When a production structure is created for an item with ingredients, the related ingredients are copied to the Prod. Structure Ingredients page, accessed by choosing Production Structure > Ingredients on the Related menu.
Some of the fields in the Prod. Structure Ingredients page are described in the following table.

| Alloc. Unit of Measure Code | Defines the relationship between ingredient quantity and component quantity. The value can be edited to convert the quantity when producing in different amounts. |
| Quantity (Calc.) | Displays the sum of the Quantity (Calc.) fields of all component ingredients per ingredient. This field is set to zero (0) until component lines are added to the Production Structure lines (see Production Structure Component Ingredients). |
Production Structure Component Ingredients
On the Production Structure, a component or variant with ingredients can be entered as an Item or Share of Recipe type in the Lines FastTab.
Ingredients are accessed by choosing Line > Ingredients on the Lines FastTab. The ingredients can be modified per production structure. Normally, modifications of the ingredients should be performed directly on the (component) item card and should only differ per production structure in exceptional cases.
Note
Ingredients can be added to lines without an item (Type = Item and No. = <Blank>) on Development Structures and Laboratory Structures. However, to certify the Laboratory Structure the lines must have an item number. When the Create Item function is run from the Production Structure line, the ingredient information will be transferred as Item Ingredients for the new item.
To reach the specified ingredient quantity of the item to be produced, quantities must be allocated to the components in the Quantity per or Share % fields.
The ingredient quantity in the Prod. Structure Line Ingredients page is automatically calculated based on the specified ingredient quantity of the item. The Quantity (Calc.) field is calculated for ingredients of the component items by multiplying the Quantity per of the production structure line by the Quantity of the ingredient.
Recipe ingredients are calculated based on the Share % in relation to the recipe weight of the item in the Production Structure header.
Important
Ingredients must be calculated in quantities, ingredient potency cannot be defined in percentages.
Expected and Calculated Ingredient Quantities
The Quantity (Calc.) field in the Prod. Structure Ingredients page of the item to be produced displays the sum of the Quantity (Calc.) fields of all component ingredients per ingredient. Thus, you can control within this page if the specified potency of the item to be produced can be achieved with the allocated component ingredients.
Ingredients added to the components are displayed as new lines in the Prod. Structure Ingredients page with the Quantity (Expected) field set to 0.
Note
Expected and calculated quantities can be different. If the production structure is certified without equal quantities, the expected quantity will be overwritten with the calculated ingredient quantities. However, these changes are not transferred back to the item.
When the Production Structure is certified, the header and line ingredients are copied to the Production BOM header and lines and will be used with production orders.
Note
The Production BOM header and line Ingredients cannot be changed or deleted. Any changes that need to be made to the ingredients in a BOM/Recipe must be done in the corresponding Production Structure.
Ingredients in Production Structure Report
Ingredients can be displayed in the Production Structure report by turning on the Print Ingredients toggle in the Production Structure report print dialog.
Ingredient information is displayed for the item and the component lines.
Ingredient Comparison Matrix
The Ingredient Comparison Matrix compares the ingredients of the current production structure and the selected production BOM/production BOM version in the Recipe Comparison Matrix. For more information about the Recipe Comparison Matrix, see Recipe Comparison Matrix.
