Setup
This section covers the pages used to set up Plant Maintenance.
Maintenance Setup
In the Maintenance Setup page, the number series for the machines, maintenance contract templates, and maintenance contracts are defined.
For posting of items, resources and G/L accounts, the corresponding journal template name, and journal batch names are defined on the Posting FastTab.
Damage Reasons
Damage Reasons are used on maintenance orders to identify the cause of damage to the machine.
Damage Types
Damage Types are used on the maintenance contract to identify the type of damage to the machine.
Maintenance-/Setup Job Type
Maintenance orders are organized by predefined types. Combined with these types is information about what kind of standstill is assigned and defaults for production routings. Maintenance-/Setup Job Types are used in Maintenance Orders and the Maintenance-/Setup Matrix.
The fields on the General FastTab are described in the following table.
Field | Description |
---|---|
No. | Unique identifier for the Maint.-/Setup Job Type. |
Description | Brief description of the Maint.-/Setup Job Type. |
Department Code | Specifies the department code associated with this Maint.-/Setup Job Type. |
Project Code | Specifies the project code associated with this Maint.-/Setup Job Type. |
Order Type Code | Classifies orders into categories. For instance, cleaning might be assigned for a specific kind of setup. |
Standstill Code | Indicates the kind of downtime. For instance, if a machine stops for an unplanned event then such breakdown may be assigned a Standstill Code. |
Breakdown | Indicates if the maintenance job is used for machine breakdowns. Creating maintenance orders for this job type also automatically creates a released production order to prompt immediate repair and block capacity in production. |
Setup Time | Default used as setup time in created production order for sequence planning. |
Setup Time Unit of Meas. Code | Indicates the unit of measure of setup time. |
Run Time | Default used as run time in created production order for sequence planning. |
Run Time Unit of Meas. Code | Indicates the unit of measure of run time. |
Dimensions can be assigned to Maintenance-/Setup Job Types, which are then assigned to a document if the Maintenance-/Setup Job Type is used. This information is transferred to the Machine Card, Maintenance Template, and Maintenance Order.
Machines
All machines that need to be maintained are set up on Machine Cards.
General FastTab
This FastTab contains the fields that define the general features of the machine.
The fields on the General FastTab are described in the following table.
Field | Description |
---|---|
No. | Unique identifier for the Machine Card. |
Fixed Asset No. | Machines that have been set up as Fixed Assets can be linked to the Machine Card by entering the number in this field. The Description, Serial No., and Search Description from the Fixed Asset Card default to the Machine Card. |
Resource No. | Machines that have been set up as Resources can be linked to the Machine Card by entering the number in this field. The Description and Search Description from the Resource Card default to the Machine Card. |
Description / Description 2 | Descriptions of the machine. |
Serial No. | Serial number of the machine. |
Search Description | Machine description that can be used in search functions. |
Blocked | If selected, prevents the usage of machines in maintenance orders. |
Machine/Component | Defines the type of machine. The options are Main Machine, Sub Machine, and Component. |
Main Machine No. | If the machine is a sub machine or component, this field links it to a main machine. |
Technical Notes FastTab
The fields on this FastTab allow you to enter specific comments about the machine.
Manufacturing FastTab
The fields on this FastTab link the machine to a work center.
This is necessary if the maintenance contracts need to be included in sequence planning. Therefore, it is also necessary that the machine be linked to a maintenance job type. The setup and run times/units of measure are populated from the combination of work center/maintenance job type but can be changed. This information is transferred to the Maintenance Template.
Additionally, the Order Type Code, Standstill Code, and Global Dimension 1 and 2 fields are available for transfer to the Maintenance Template, and therefore, from maintenance orders to production orders.
If a breakdown maintenance order is created from the machine, relevant fields from this FastTab and General FastTab are transferred to the request page and subsequent maintenance- and production order.
Actions
The actions on the Machine Card are described in the following table.
Menu | Field | Description |
---|---|---|
Home | Create Maintenance Order | Opens the Create Maintenance Order request page where you define the type of maintenance order to be created for the machine. For more information, see Breakdown Orders. |
Machine | Dimensions | Opens the Default Dimensions page where dimensions can be assigned to the machine. These dimensions are transferred from maintenance orders to production orders. |
Resources
Resources used for plant maintenance are specified on the Resource Card. Refer to the Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central Help for more information about the fields on this page.
Vendors
External service providers that complete maintenance contracts are defined in the Vendor Card. Refer to the Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central Help for more information about the fields on this page.
