QC Status
The QC Status supports an organization in assigning a specific condition to inventory. This status is arbitrary and can have user-defined attributes.
QC Status Setup
The QC Status page is accessed using Tell Me. Choose the icon, enter QC Status, and then choose the related link.
The following fields are used in item tracking:
- Standard Location Code – see QC Status on Locations.
- Standard Bin Code – see QC Status on Bins.
- Transfer
- Sales
- Consumption
- Inventory Available – see Inventory Availability by QC Status.
The Transfer, Sales, and Consumption fields do not prevent the actual posting; they are always used in conjunction with the Use As Transfer Location, Use As Sales Location, and Use As Consumption Location fields in the Location table. For more information, see Status of Lot Numbers.
In terms of consumption, an Item Ledger Entry with a QC Status where the Consumption field is not activated cannot be transferred to a Location where Use As Consumption Location is activated. The same applies accordingly to transfer and sales.
The QC Status provides organizational support. To prevent a warning stating that inventory should not have been used after the physical consumption has already been executed, inventory is transferred to a consumption location before it is consumed.
The remaining fields are used in validation (see QC Status Validation).
Standard QC Status on Items
On the Item Card, each item can be set up with a standard QC Status in the QC Standard Status field on the Item Tracking FastTab.
QC Status Maintenance
QC Statuses are maintained in the QC Status Change page. In the Options section, filters can be set on various item-related fields. To search, choose the Find action. Once the data is found, the QC Status on individual lines can be changed by entering the new status in the New QC Status field, selecting those lines, and then choosing the Change action.
Alternatively, choose the Batch QC Status Change action to change the status based on conditions.
QC Status on Locations
When a QC Status change occurs, the history can be tracked with the item tracing functionality if the QC Status is used with locations.
For each QC status, a fixed location can be specified. This status indicates in which location an item must be stored during certain processes. This information not only controls whether certain goods with a certain status will be properly stored, but also when changing from one status to another.
In the QC Status Change page, if the Transfer toggle is turned on, the location code is also changed in the item ledger entries to match the standard location code connected to the status entered in the New QC Status field.
The Transfer toggle can only be turned on when the New QC Status field is filled in. When the Transfer toggle is turned on, the Posting Date and Document Date fields become available and indicate the dates used during the transfer posting.
The Transfer function is also available in the Batch QC Status Change page.
Note
Due to transfer process requirements, you cannot post a QC Status Change with transfer-from or to locations that are designated as Directed Put-away and Pick.
QC Status on Bins
In the QC Status page, the Standard Bin Code field indicates the default bin to be used when a QC status is changed with transfer on a bin mandatory location.
When the QC Status with the bin code is added to the QC Status Change page, and the Transfer toggle is turned on, the value from the Standard Bin Code field in entered in the New Bin Code field.
Inventory Availability by QC Status
Inventory availability can also be controlled using the QC Status functionality.
Only inventory with a QC Status that has the Inventory Available checkbox selected will be considered available, and all others will be displayed in the Inventory blocked by QC field on the Item Card.
The value in the Inventory blocked by QC field is considered in the calculation of the planning worksheet. With all further functions that use item inventory, the value of this field is not considered. This function does not affect the Quantity on Hand field on the Item Card or the inventory valuation.
QC Status Validation
A QC Status for inventory with lot number information and QC Test can only be set if the QC Test is validated.
For each QC status, a QC test validation of All Right, Restriction, or Blocked can be specified. These statuses are based on the answers defined in the QC Answer Card page.
A positive answer can be defined for each answer of a QC Test. The display colors for positive or negative answers are managed in the QC Setup page (see QC Setup).
Several QC Status can be locked when some of the answers of the attached QC Test are not positive or without answer. If a QC Test is unclear or not validated, a comment can be entered in the QC Status Comment field on the QC Information FastTab on the QC Test page.
Note
The Question Status and Positive Answer fields are also used in the Lot No. Information Lines Adv. page.
QC Status on Lot Number Assignment
The QC Status assigned to a lot number is shown in the Lot No. List page, which is opened from the Item Tracking Lines page by choosing the ellipsis button in the Lot No. field.
The QC Status field is empty if there are multiple item ledger entries for a lot number with different QC Statuses.
Note
The QC Status field is also shown in the Item Tracking - Select Entries page, which is opened from the Item Tracking Lines page by choosing the Select Entries action on the Home menu.
