Search by Manufacturing Dimensions

The Search by Default Mfg. Dimensions page can be used to search items, item variants, work centers, tools, and inserts by their specified manufacturing dimensions. This function can also be used to add searched for items to a sales quote or order line.

Note

The search for work centers, tools, and inserts is performed as instructed for the items.

To search items/item variants by manufacturing dimensions

  1. Choose the Lightbulb that opens the Tell Me feature icon, enter Search by Default Mfg. Dimensions, and then choose the relevant link.
  2. In the Find What field, enter what the function needs to search for (items, work centers, tools, or inserts).
  3. In the Mfg. Dimension Code field, enter the manufacturing dimension to be searched for.
  4. In the Mfg. Dimension Value Filter field, set at least one value filter.
    Note

    Manufacturing dimension values are code fields and are filtered accordingly regardless of their content. Manufacturing dimensions that are marked as numeric values are an exception. Their manufacturing dimension values are also filtered like numeric values within the Search by Manufacturing Dimensions function.
    Manufacturing values in Shortcut Mfg. Dimensions used in, e.g., the Items list page are always considered like code fields.

  5. On the action bar, choose the Show action to open the Item Card for selected items/item variants.

To search items/item variants using manufacturing dimension templates

  1. On the action bar, choose the Get Mfg. Dimension Template action on the Functions menu.
  2. Once all searching criteria has been set, choose the Find action to run the search function.
  3. Choose the Show action to open the Item Card for selected items/item variants.

To search items in sales quote and sales order lines

When accessed from the sales quote or order line, you can add the searched for item to the sales line. It is only possible to search for items when accessed from the sales line.

  1. Choose the Lightbulb that opens the Tell Me feature icon, enter Sales Quotes or Sales Orders, and then choose the relevant link.
  2. Create a sales quote/order or open an existing one.
  3. Select a new or existing line to add the searched for item.
    Important

    An existing line will be overwritten with the searched for item selected in the Search by Default Mfg. Dimensions page.

  4. On the Lines FastTab, choose Functions > Search Item by Mfg. Dimensions on the Line menu.
  5. The Find What field is automatically set to Item and cannot be edited.
  6. In the Mfg. Dimension Code field, enter the manufacturing dimension to be searched for and then set at least one value filter in the Mfg. Dimension Value Filter field.
  7. On the action bar, choose the Find action to run the search function.
  8. Select an item in the Mfg. Dimension Search Results FastTab.
    If necessary, choose the Show action to open the Item Card. Close the Item Card when finished.
  9. With the item selected, choose the OK button to add the item to the sales quote/order line.

The searched for item is added to the sales quote/order line where intended.
